33.6K works
Hey
To all those who have doubts as to their connection speed. Don't worry.
I have previous doubts about using a 56K modem. But in fact, i connect at 33.6K.
I recieved the boxed set yestaday, and installed it. I noticed that i was connected at 33.6K and that i was downloading the updated GW files at 3kb/sec.
I then ran the program - created a nice character and!!!!
It actually ran REALLY well. I didn't seem to have no lag at all.
One of the missions involved real people - I thought they were all henchmen lol. Imagine to my astonishment that someone suddenly spoke and said "Omg Not again"
Not only that, but at sometimes it was like downloading things while i was fighting. And still no lag
So after that i decided to have a go at PVP. So i created a premade character. No lag here at all
So whatever these ANet people have done. Its amazing
So people should have no worries at all, regarding whether or not they can run properly.
NOTE: i don't use wireless, i just use a internal 56K modem, connected to the phone line - Simple

Yes, it really is amazing isn't it. I play on dialup and usually connect around 45K, but sometimes I only get 28.8 and it still runs great. I read all of these posts from people using wireless routers, wired routers, and broadband getting lag or Err=7 disconnects and for just a split second, it makes me glad to have dialup. (Just kidding, I would trade this painfully slow internet connection for broadband anyday!) I have been trying to get the news out that this great game runs fantastic on a slow dialup connection and it seems people don't want to believe it. This game is a Godsend for people like me who don't have a broadband option.

Definitely - I keep on hearing about these people suffering from lag and bandwidth problems and they have like a 512kb/sec speed connection !
This game even ran better than diablo 2, runescape, and tibia (old games i used to play) - And those games don't have half the things this game does.

You have a computer that can run the game well, but you still have a 33.6k connection? o_O
That's bizarre.

Not bizarre at all if you live in the half of the country that doesn't have access to broadband. Move out to the farmlands and you will soon learn to live with either dialup or nothing. Like I said earlier, this game is a Godsend to people like me.

Thats good to hear. I was dreading to have to give up the game when I went back home over the summer. At college we have a decent high speed connection, although 12,000 people using it at the same time tends to slow it down a bit. But at home, my family still has dial up. So its good to hear that I'll still be able to play over the summer.

The only thing i don't like about the game - is that sometimes need to download like 3MB before playing (patching the program)
If thats the case, they could at least tell me exactly HOW much i need to download and estimate a time.
Since its like the first few percentages are like:
1%: 10kb
2%: 10kb
3%: 10kb
...
...
70%: 100kb
71%: 100kb
and im like aghhh - tell me how much to download.
